Accommodation for European citizens in Spain

In 2007, Spain abolished residence for EU countries. But due to the adoption of the Ministerial Decree in 2012, now, in order to become a resident of the monarchy, you need to provide a passport and income information.

If a citizen of another country plans to go to Spain to work there for hire, he must provide to the migration office:

  • a lease agreement signed by both parties,
  • individual tax number,
  • Employer's Seguridad Social number

In order to move to Spain, a resident of an EU country needs:

  • Contact the Spanish Consulate in your country of residence and request a residence permit in the country of interest. A visa is not required in advance.
  • Prepare the basis for granting a residence permit in Spain (mandatory condition).
  • Availability of real estate in the country – it is not a basis. If there is an employment contract or the amount in the bank account sufficient to live in Spain, this will be the basis.

If a citizen does not plan to work in Spain, it is enough for him to confirm his income. In order to be able to live in Spain, the monthly income level must be 750 euros or more. Pensioners with such an income can easily obtain a residence permit in this extraordinary country.
Each submitted application for a residence permit is carefully considered by the employees of the migration service. Shares or investments can be presented as confirmation of the required level of income.

The second, important, requirement for EU citizens – they have public or private insurance, which, if necessary, will be equal in amount to the coverage of social insurance from Seguridad Social.

By contacting the Alicante Real Estate agency, a non-resident will receive qualified assistance in collecting documents and obtaining a residence permit.
